Altec Tales From The Christmas Gatherings

My sad tale is that another year has gone by without my Altec system coming to fruition. 2010 is my year of the Altec.

    Cheers, Marshall.

    P.S. ABSOLUTELY.

    Count your blessings.
It was many years before I was able to obtain my Altecs.
If you have an Altec project, take your time and enjoy the ride.

Hi Marshall, You see how fast these years go by, when you do get started enjoy it is fun and even better when you have that great sounding Altec Lansing speaker system. I can only say that it puts a smile on my face every time I power up the amp. And my only hope is that everyone could experiance the Altec Lansing sound. It is the Best IMHO.And will NEVER GIVE IT UP.For anything else.Like Marv said enjoy the ride it is a very smooth life-like Cadillac ride Regards ~ JOHN

In Marshall's defense, he politely failed to mention much of his available DIY time has been occupied with building guitar amps for his kids. In the immortal words of Larry the Cable Guy, it's now time to Git 'er Done!

I went to my fishin' buddy's today, to see a couple of his wandering children that came home to see Dad for Christmas. The oldest daughter had given him Abbey Road remastered, and wanted to hear it on "the speakers" (my M500s hung out in his garage). So, we all bundled up and headed for the remote garage with a bottle of cinamon-flavored antifreeze. I can't give a fair review of the remaster due to... conditions, but a good time was had by all. When I left, the kids were good-naturedly fighting over who'd get "the speakers" when Pops kicks the bucket...

I tried some of that Fireball stuff. Not bad but if you ever get sick on it you'll wish you were dead I'll wager.

Ditto. But assuming I'm not dead/divorced/disenfranchised or unemployed by next Christmas, my new house with mancave will be finished, and I'll be debating which component sounds best in which position.

    13

Simplexes topped with 1005B's or MR94B's?

    288-16G's/299's/288B's?

    42' by 30' big enough for VIT's?

one or two JBL4508's for subs and what woofers to put in them? 515 16G HP in series?

816VI's for rears, or 515 filled custom 604 enclosures? What to top these with? Or just use the Model 19's?

Tweeters???? Got a dozen Frazier horn tweeters lying around. Build a pair of 6 cell horn arrays with each cell having it's own driver?...

So many question, so little hearing left....
